SSL certificates expire, usually after 1-2 years. Renewing on time keeps your site secure and avoids the browser warnings that appear the moment a certificate lapses. This guide shows you when and how to renew.

When to renew

  • Certificates issued for 1 year: renew 30 days before expiration
  • Certificates issued for 2 years: renew 60 days before expiration
  • Enable auto-renewal to skip the manual process entirely

Renew from your dashboard

Sign in to EnrolWeb

Log in at enrolweb.com.

Open SSL Certificates

Go to SSL & Security > SSL Certificates.

Select the expiring certificate

Find the certificate approaching expiration and click Renew.

Choose the renewal period

Pick a 1 or 2-year renewal term.

Complete payment

Confirm your payment method and complete checkout.

Reactivate and revalidate

Renewal creates a new certificate. You’ll need to:

Generate a new CSR

Create a new CSR on your server (recommended for security).

Submit the CSR

Paste it into the renewal activation form.

Complete domain validation

Approve via email, DNS, or HTTP as you did during the initial activation.

Install the renewed certificate

Replace the old certificate files with the new ones. See [Installing SSL](/SSL & Website Security/contact-2-2).

Enable auto-renewal

Open your certificate

Select the certificate in your dashboard.

Turn on auto-renewal

Toggle Auto-Renew to on.

Confirm payment method

Ensure a valid payment method is on file.
Auto-renewal handles billing, but you still need to validate and install the new certificate manually unless your hosting supports full automation.

What if my certificate expired?

Renew immediately

Purchase a renewal from your dashboard.

Use free Let's Encrypt

Available in cPanel as a stopgap.

Reissue if within grace

Some CAs allow reissuance shortly after expiration.

Contact support

Get help expediting a replacement.
Pick a 2-year term to reduce how often you renew, and enable auto-renewal to skip billing steps entirely.
